Team call opportunity

I was invited to be the guest speaker on Sarah Try's team call on Tuesday.  I was there on vacation but I still made it work.  I had to do the call in the stairwell of our hotel but it went smoothly.  I was nervous that almost 800 people were invited to listen!  It was nothing life shattering but good info for busy people to hear and find a system that works for them...this one works for me.  The link to the recording is below.

A Trip to the Dells

Got the opportunity to take a mini vacation with some other moms I homeschool with. Had about 5 hours notice to get all our stuff packed and go!! Again my favorite benefit to homeschooling and entrepreneurship! Brought all our school work...but most importantly I brought my weights and workout to stay committed to my challenge group.
We brought all the kids school work and did that every morning before hitting the pool.  We had 8 kids but this was a 4 bedroom suite with 4 bathrooms and a large kitchen/dining room/living room.  We had plenty of room and brought all our own food.  I got the priviledge of doing our morning devotion.  We focused on patience which was key for us this week as we waited in line and had a long walk to the parks each day.  We really had a fun time!!

Yesterday you said tomorrow

Mondays are great because it's a way to start over. Think about something you've been putting off or saying you would do tomorrow and just go for it! Someday is a day that never comes...but tomorrow?! Make tomorrow be today!

Doubt

Don't let doubt kill your dreams. At least if you fail you are working toward those dreams!

Fit tip Friday - Nutrition Tip

Are you preparing your meals in advance? The surest way to stay on your nutritional path is not only to plan out your meals, but also to make them in advance. If your fridge is full of yummy healthy meals and snacks, you will be much less likely to stop at a drive-thru on your way home from work. So use your recovery day to make your meals.

Shakeology Spotlight -Pomegranates are potent, powerful, and delicious!

Have you ever eaten a pomegranate? If you have, you know how delicious one is. If you haven’t, you’re missing out—big time. Not only are you depriving your taste buds of a sweet and tangy treat, but you’re also denying your body of one of the healthiest fruits on this planet.
However, if you’ve ever had a Shakeology®, you’ve fed your body pomegranates, probably without even knowing it. That’s because pomegranates are one of the many superfoods inside of every shake you make.
So now that we’ve told you that pomegranates are incredibly healthy, we have no choice but to elaborate and tell you how this mystical fruit significantly benefits your body.
WHY POMEGRANATES RULE THE SCHOOL:
Packed with more antioxidants than ANY other fruit.
Remember, antioxidants fight those snickering little devils known as free radicals that destroy healthy cells.
Rockin’ with vitamin C.
This vital vitamin promotes a healthy immune system, aids in healing wounds, enhances iron absorption, promotes healthy gums, as well as helps produce collagen and elastin, which are key in helping skin maintain its elasticity.
Incredible source of vitamin B5.
This B vitamin contains tons of anti-inflammatory properties, plus it’s fundamental in metabolizing fats, carbs, and proteins. And who doesn’t want that?
Filled with fiber.
Not only does fiber make our bellies feel full longer, as fiber passes though the stomach and intestines, it absorbs water, which promotes regularity.
Packed with potassium.
Potassium is an electrolyte that helps neutralize acid while restoring alkaline salts into the bloodstream. It also helps prevent muscle cramps, aids in stabilizing blood sugar, and promotes bone and brain health.
Great source of beta-carotene.
Once inside the body, beta-carotene is converted into vitamin A—and this powerful antioxidant is critical for good eyesight, and it also helps promote a healthy immune system.
Rich in tons of other vitamins.
Pomegranates also contain a myriad of other powerful vitamins, such as thiamin, riboflavin, folate, folic acid, and vitamin E—which all play an important role in cell metabolism, enzyme function, and general health.
With all that said, what’s NOT to love about pomegranates?
And since this super-round, thick-skinned, apple-wearing-a-crown-looking fruit is such a densely nutritious food, eat and drink as much of it as possible. And to help you out with your consumption, here are a few delicious pomegranate-infused recipes to enjoy.

Thirsty Thursday - Mint Chocoloate Shakeology

Just say No to other peoples piles of crap!

My theme lately has been drowning out negativity and being confident enough in yourself to not worry about what other people think. A lot of people have objections or are just negative in general about the concept of what I do. Thankfully I read a lot of positive things each day to help me combat all the negativity. I read the following this morning and it made me laugh out loud in my quiet dark house…so it is worthy of sharing. Now I have changed the wording so that it is a little more appropriate for social media I have summarized it…seriously, it’s worth reading. You could actually be one of those people who don’t care what other people think of them. Those people aren’t unicorns. They really do exist. And you can really be one of them. Decide that it is a fact that the other person’s feelings about you have absolutely nothing to do with you. It has no bearing on your self-worth or who you are as a person. You are giving this other person a lot of power when you allow what they think and say affect your self-worth. You are just handing it over as it if rightly belongs to him or her…and it doesn’t. The writer asks “If someone had a big pile of crap in their arms and tried to give it to you, would you take it? Or would you say “no thank you. That’s your pile of crap and I don’t want it.” Now what if you think of other people’s opinions, judgments, and criticisms in the same way? It’s their pile of crap, and you have the choice whether to take it from them or not. Duh. Don’t take it!

    What is a coach??

    God Made Me

I am comfortable in my own skin. God made me...beautiful...worthy...enough. In the past, my confidence was built on something that could never be perfect or fill me up. God made me...and He made me capable. Because I am confident in all these things, I can use the gifts He has given me to the fullest.

    Shakeology Spotlight - Rose Hips

Ever heard of rose hips? Most haven’t. But you’ve gotta admit, it is a funny-sounding name. But there’s nothing funny about the health benefits of this peculiar sounding, and looking, little fruit. And that’s exactly why we put it into Shakeology®.

    What are rose hips?
Rose hips are grape-sized fruits that form out of shriveled rose flowers. You probably haven’t seen rose hips before because people tend to prune their rose bushes at the end of the season to encourage new growth. But, an unpruned rose bush would yield a ton of incredibly nutritious and delicious fruit.
Why are they so good for you?
Rose hips are loaded with vitamin C—which is known to help boost the immune system. Plus, they also contain vitamins A, E, and B-complex, as well as calcium, iron, selenium, manganese, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, sulfur, silicon, and zinc.
    History of rose hips.
Back in the Middle Ages, rose hips were used to treat those under the weather. Native Americans used them in soups and stews. And during World War II, when citrus imports to England nearly ceased, rose hips were harvested from the English countryside to ensure people got their fill of vitamin C, instead of their fill of scurvy.
What do rose hips look like?
Rose hips start out green then mature to red, yellow, orange, or purple longish grape-looking fruit. When cut open, they contain small seeds that are encased in silvery hairs. And since rose hips are in the same family as apples and crabapples, it shouldn’t be a shocker that they sort of look and taste very similar.
    Gimme. Gimme. Gimme.
But you don’t have to canvas your neighborhood and convince neighbors not to prune their rose bushes in order to get your hands on these potent little fruits. All you’ve got to do is drink Shakeology.
You guessed it, rose hips are a superfood. And Shakeology is loaded with them. Enjoy!

    Transformation Tuesday!

So you know how you try something and you love it and you tell everyone you know about it?  That is how I am feeling right now about something…and if I don’t tell you about it and offer it to everyone I know, I am really doing you a disservice.  My team is AMAZING.  Each of them brings something really special to the team.  We don’t work alone.  That’s why it’s called a team.  We work really hard together and our heart is in this thing to help people and change lives. I think the message is skewed sometimes.  But what we do only has a small piece to do with body transformations.  While body transformations most definitely happen along the way, what I see happening most is the mind and heart transformations.  With Wellness Warriors…it’s all about your health and wellness as a WHOLE.  We deliver the whole package.  There is no magic pill or special diet or plan.  It’s a lifestyle choice that we help you achieve.  Do we fail?  Yes, we are humans too.  But we keep each other motivated and accountable.  And best of all we laugh and have a good time.  We have made lasting friendships that I cannot even describe.  This company has only scratched the surface of a body transformation for me.  For me, it’s the transformation of my mind and heart that have made the biggest change in my life.  And no work out has done that for me (I am not talking about yoga here). Im just talking about the choice to be happy in my own skin…no matter what that may look like.  Im talking about the choice to let go of fears and going for what I want. If this all sounds like something you want ask yourself…Why not me?  You want to change lives?  You want to be your own boss? You want to travel?  You want to have fun and long lasting deep relationships?  Then this truly is for you.  Yes, it might be scary, but so what.  Im telling you that the rewards are so much greater than any of those fears I had.  So if you have been wondering about what we do, join me this week in our coach open house to see what its all about.  You don’t have to have a certificate (we provide training)…you don’t have to be at your ideal goal weight…There are no strings…just read and watch and listen and decide for yourself if this is something you want. Then you have to choose. We would love to have you!!!

You are the Star for which all evenings wait

Happy Valentines Day - Update on Foster Care

Yesterday we spent our Valentines Day away from home all day. We were with each other but we were completing PRIDE classes #3 and #4.  These classes focused on abuse, attachment and loss.  Not very "loving" things to talk about on such a love filled holiday.  I'm glad that we were able to spend it together anyway.  And we are that much closer to completing what is needed for fostercare.

We completed class #1 and #2 last week and #3 and #4 yesterday.  So we have done 12 hours. We have 15 hours left and 2.5 more Saturdays.  So we are almost there!  And most of our paperwork has been filled out.  We have a couple more home studies to complete in the next couple of weeks as well.  Then everything we will be sent off to be approved by the state.

We are also officially "Safe Family" approved.  So we could potentially receive a call for that.

    Reach Out to Someone

People are biologically wired for human connection, but we still try to solve problems and heal all by ourselves. Reach out to someone...you never know what they might be going through. But if you ask, they might get real with you. It really takes a village to have an amazing life!

Meal Plan #3 – 21 day fix extreme approved

This plan is super simple as you will eat the same things every day. It makes it easy to plan these meals but you have to keep this in mind and hope you don’t burn out on eating the same things each day. This plan will give you approximately 4 reds, 4 greens, 2 yellows, 2 purples, 1 blue, 1 orange and 2 TBs.

    Meal 1

Shakeology with almond milk, half of banana (or other fruit) and PB2 (1 red, 1 purple, 1 TB)

    Meal 2

Oatmeal w/ Fruit (1 yellow, 1/2 purple) See recipe on my recipe page. Or cook oats according to package and top with fruit and almond milk or agave sweetener.

    Meal 3

Chicken with Veggies and Brown Rice/Quinoa (1 red, 1 green, 1 yellow) See recipe on Recipe page.

Either Boiled veggies or veggie stir fry (recipe below)

    Recipe for Veggie Stir Fry

    25 asparagus – cut up

    1 pepper – any color

    Grocery List Idea

I saved a grocery list "template" in word on my computer.  I shop a certain way in the store (usually Meijer), so my list goes in the order that I shop the store.  It's nothing fancy but it gets the job done.  I put things on the list that I normally buy every single week and save it.  Each week I print it off and add my other items to it.  It's not too much but it does help me not forget certain things! There a lots of cute ones and I own one but am not able to put it on the blog yet...can't figure out how to attach a document.  And I never use the cute ones :) Heres' what mine looks like:

Fit Tip Friday - Modified Push up

Did you know there was a way to do a modified push up?

Here are 3 tips on how to do the perfect push up (sometimes you need to practice in front of the mirror)

    1) Get into plank position and make sure your hands are positioned slightly wider than your shoulders.  Tighten your core.

2)Lower your body until your chest almost touches the floor, tucking your elbows in as you do.  When you're at the bottom, your arms should be at a 45 degree angle.

3)Keep your back flat and do not let your back or hips sag.  If you cant do a push-up on your toes yet, don't give up.  Do them on your knees with your toes pointed up and you'll still get a great workout.

    Shakeology Spolight - Moringa

What is so great about this “elixir of long life”—as touted by locals? “For starters,” Darin said (creator and ingredient hunter for shakeology), “Moringa contains 46 types of antioxidants and 18 amino acids, making it a complete protein—which is a rarity in plants. Because moringa is so potent, it’s crucial to the health of those living in developing countries.”

Moringa is packed with essential vitamins and minerals.

Darin told us that moringa not only has 3x more iron than spinach, but it also has 4x more beta-carotene than carrots as well as 4x more calcium than milk. Plus, a ½ cup of cooked leaves contains 100% of the recommended daily serving of vitamin C. Wow, that’s some serious fuel for your body!**

Moringa helps curb malnutrition in impoverished nations.

Locals have nicknamed this superfood the Miracle Tree. “To them, moringa is more than food. It’s medicine. It’s hope for their children’s future. It’s a blessing from above,” explained Darin. He totally lit up when he told us that moringa is an absolute pure gift to these developing countries! And he’s right.

Not all moringa is created equal.

When it comes to all the ingredients that Darin has unearthed, he has put more time and effort into researching moringa than anything else. “I’ve spent countless hours of my life bouncing down a road to nowhere so I could talk to farmers and check out their product. And after just 30 minutes of their time I had to simply say, ‘No thanks’ and continue my hunt.” Darin said that he’s talked to more people about moringa, and has been to more places on this earth in search of the richest, purest, and most potent crop than anyone could ever imagine.

    What makes great moringa.

“What I’m looking for in moringa sources that may possibly be used for Shakeology are plants with deep green leaves growing in rich, fertile soil. I examine the color and the activity of the soil and if it’s dry and clumpy, it’s bad. I look at what life is like around the moringa plants. What’s their spacing like and do the farmers implement crop rotation? These are just some of the factors I’m evaluating when on the hunt for the perfect crop.”
Darin told us that if you grow moringa in quality soil, it WILL thrive. “Moringa is not governed by a specific geographical area, it’s ALL about the soil. Then I look at the age of the plants. And while young leaves are extremely vulnerable, they’re also very high in quality nutrients. So finding the perfect crop of moringa is somewhat of an art. But you know it’s a good sign when horses can’t stop eating this stuff.”

    Moringa’s harvesting and processing challenges.

Darin said that moringa is a very easy plant to grow, which is why it thrives in underdeveloped countries. “But you’ve got to remember that sometimes these remote locations present huge problems due to the fact that there is very little zoning or regulations for businesses in those places.”
Because Shakeology’s standards are so high, Darin’s team can’t just buy a bundle of moringa from a local market. “We need to know EXACTLY where our product is coming from,” Darin said. “There have been times when we’ve showed up to a potential ‘manufacturing facility’ and everything was being done under a tent or near cattle, and they’re washing the plants with well water. And while their bodies are used to all those microbes floating around, we would get extremely sick. And we permanently scratched that potential partner off our list.”

    Be an Opener to Doors

"Be an opener of doors" ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
I know that when one door closes, another one opens...just wish I knew which one was the right one. I don't want to look too long at the one that is closing
